FINANCIAL PLANNING THEMES

Services for Individuals & Families

Our extensive planning and financial modeling empowers you to take action. We'll show you how much you need to achieve financial independence and retire with confidence.

Financial Independence & Cash-Flow Projections

A financial plan is the foundation on which our clients make financial decisions. Our focus is on understanding your goals to develop a roadmap that gives you a clear picture and peace of mind.

Risk Management

We analyze your liabilities and risks while coordinating with your outside professionals to help you develop and execute a plan to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your wealth.

Tax Planning

From tax-efficient portfolio management to proactive tax planning, we coordinate your financial plan with your CPA to create strategies that can help minimize taxes today and tomorrow.

Investment Management

At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that effective asset allocation is key to unlocking robust returns. We harness the power of open architecture, optimize for tax efficiency, embrace diversification, and draw on deep research, all while leveraging our scale. This enables us to craft bespoke investment portfolios designed to meet your unique objectives and aspirations.

Charitable Giving

As a wealth manager, we deepen connections with clients by addressing their philanthropic goals through strategic giving. We’ll coordinate with your CPA to maximize the benefits to your charities while providing you with charitable deductions.

Education Planning

Whether you’re planning for college or private K-12, we can help you maximize financial aid, minimize student debt, and make the most of your resources.

Estate Planning & Trusts

We work in close coordination with your counsel and tax advisors to help you protect your loved ones, manage family dynamics, and pass on your wealth—and values—to the people you care about most.

Executive Planning

As an executive, you likely don’t have time to plan for your financial future. We can help you maximize your LTIPs/STIPs, non-qualified deferred comp plans, and stock options, while minimizing risk and taxes, and optimizing your cash flow.

Business Owner Planning

We help business owners plan for the unique challenges of running and growing businesses, fulfilling tax compliance while minimizing liabilities, retaining employees with company retirement plans, protecting the value they’ve built with insurance, dealing with exits like mergers and acquisitions, and planning for succession and their second act.

What people ask

We provide a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to advising clients and their families on a wide range of investing and financial planning needs.

On the financial planning side, we have helped families plan for college, retirement, the sale of their business. We’ve even been there bedside, during the death of a spouse. At Martin Strategic Wealth, we’re the second people you call when you need advice.

On the investment management side, we hold different types of client accounts, i.e brokerage accounts, IRAs, etc., and help select investments inside those accounts. We also advise clients on held away assets like their non-qualified deferred compensation plan, stock options, restricted stock units, and when to cancel that disability insurance you got years ago. This goes hand-in-hand with financial planning.

We serve clients of every type. Primarily serving Glastonbury and the Hartford areas, we do seem to have a niche with senior executives, actuaries, and business owners; however,  we work with a log of individuals and families, college-bound famililes and retirees.

We tend to mainly work from referrals and our only real “requirement” is that our clients are likable, coachable, disciplined, and as committed to us as we are to them. Ideally, our clients fall in the $500,000 – $10,000,000 dollar range, but we certainly have clients falling outside of that range as well.

If we can’t work with you, we’ll do our best to answer any questions ask you to join our waitlist. Often, time frees up and we’re able take on smaller client relationships. You can find a link to join the waitlist below.

We feel that the level and breadth of service we provide is above our competitors. We go above and beyond to make our client’s experience more than that of just a standard financial advisor. We love what we do and cherish the deep relationships we have with clients. Our job is more than managing assets and studying the stock market. Our job is rooted in building relationships with the people we work with and helping them reach a multitude of goals over their lifetime.

Our mission is to elevate lives while delivering a deeply personalized experience.

Most of our clients have competent advisors, such as financial advisors, attorneys and accountants, who have helped them with a certain level of estate, business, or investment planning. We’d be surprised if you haven’t as well.

The question then becomes, if most of our clients already have competent advisors who’ve helped them achieve some level of financial or investment planning, why would they have hired us?

The answer is, simply, coordination, or more specifically, the lack of coordination in their existing financial planning and the desire to take that planning to another level. We work on a cross-disciplinary basis, not just from a legal, accounting, insurance, or investment perspective, but across the board. This process allows us to identify coordination gaps and missed financial planning opportunities.

Our clients have told us that the difference between having their work done and having it done as well as possible, has meant greater confidence and clarity in their financial plan, and the sense of security that comes with achieving their financial objectives.

If you wish to engage our services, you will need to end your relationship with your other advisor. There’s nothing weird about this; we are used to clients leaving for one reason or another (e.g. relocating to another state). To make this painless, we provide a professional break-up letter.

There are situations where we offer holistic financial planning without requiring managing your investments, especially if there’s good potential to work together over the long-term. However, we limit the number of these types of relationships we have per year. We encourage these types of relationships to get on our wait list, as that’s where we’ll reach out to people first.

There are certain costs associated with financial planning; and there are several ways in which we can potentially be compensated. First, we charge a fee for our planning services. This fee will typically fall within the range of 0.001% to 0.003% of your net worth, exclusive of any life insurance, and depending on the complexity of your financial situation. Example: If your net worth is $2mm, (house, investments, cash equivalents, etc.), and our fee is 0.002% of your net worth, your upfront planning fee might be $4k.

The second way we get paid is through implementing your plan. As part of the implementation process we may look for specific products such as investments and/or insurance-type products. We’d get compensated just like any other advisor would on implementing those strategies, through commissions or management fees.

The third way we get paid by way of referrals from our clients for the amazing work we do for them.
